We know Newport moves, because we do them every week
Newport is terraced streets, riverside avenues, city-centre flats and new estates out towards Rogerstone and Duffryn — and every one of them moves a bit differently. Knowing the access is half the job.
A third-floor flat off Stow Hill with no lift, a tight terrace in Maindee where the van can only park at one end, a big family house in Langstone with a loft and a garage to empty — we have done all of them, and we plan the parking, the access and the order of loading before we turn up.
That planning is why the move runs to time and why the price we quote is the price you pay. We are based just up the valley in Abertillery, so we can usually be with you quickly and know the roads between here and your new front door.
- Access planned in advance — parking, lifts and stairs sorted before the day
- Furniture wrapped and protected — blankets, stretch wrap and straps as standard
- Fixed price — quoted up front, with nothing added afterwards
- Set down room by room — not left in a pile in the hallway

Questions
House removals in Newport — your questions answered
The things people ask us most. If yours is not here, call 07916 638069 and just ask.
How much does a house removal in Newport cost?
There is no single fixed price, because no two moves are the same. The cost depends on the size of the property, how much there is to move, the access at both ends, the distance between them and whether you would like us to pack for you. A one-bedroom flat moving across the city is a very different job from a four-bedroom house going out to Chepstow. Tell us the properties and roughly what needs moving — or send a few photos — and we will give you a clear, fixed price before you commit to anything.
How far in advance should I book my move?
The earlier the better, especially if you are moving at the end of the month or on a Friday, which are always the busiest slots. A week or two of notice is ideal for a full house move and means you get the day and time you want. That said, we keep room in the diary for short-notice and same-week moves where we can, so it is always worth calling even if your date is close.
Do you help with packing?
Yes, as much or as little as you like. We can pack the whole house for you using proper boxes and wrapping, do just the fragile items like china and glassware while you handle the rest, or simply drop off boxes, tape and bubble wrap so you can pack at your own pace. Everything we pack is labelled by room so the unload is quick and nothing ends up in the wrong place.
What size properties do you move?
Everything from a single room or a studio flat up to large family houses. We scale the team and the van to the job rather than charging everyone for a full lorry. Whether it is a bedsit on Stow Hill or a five-bedroom house in Langstone, we will send the right number of people and the right vehicle to do it in one trip wherever possible.
Can you move just a single item or a few things?
Absolutely. Our small moves and man-and-van service is made for exactly that — a sofa, a bed, a wardrobe, a few boxes or the contents of one room. It is the same careful handling as a full move, priced for the size of the job. It is popular for students, people downsizing, and anyone who has bought a piece of furniture that will not fit in the car.
Do you cover moves outside Newport?
Yes. Newport and the surrounding towns — Cwmbran, Risca, Pontypool, Chepstow, Caldicot and up the valleys towards Abertillery and Ebbw Vale — are our core area, and we also take on long-distance moves across the rest of Wales and into England. Wherever you are heading, it is the same team from the first box to the last.
How do you protect my furniture during the move?
Furniture is wrapped in removal blankets and stretch wrap, and secured in the van so nothing shifts on the road. Fragile items are boxed with bubble wrap and paper rather than just laid loose. On upper-floor and flat moves we also protect the communal stairs and doorways so nothing gets scuffed on the way out. If you have anything particularly valuable or delicate, tell us in advance so we can plan how it travels.
Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Beds, flat-pack wardrobes, tables and other items that will not fit through the door in one piece can be taken apart before the move and put back together at your new home. It is worth mentioning these when you book so we bring the right tools and allow time for it in the plan.
Can you move on weekends or at short notice?
We try to. Weekends and short-notice moves are subject to availability, but we deliberately keep some flexibility in the diary rather than booking every slot weeks ahead. If your move is urgent, or has to be a Saturday, call and ask — we will tell you honestly what we can do rather than leave you guessing.
What areas of Newport do you cover?
All of it — the city centre, Maindee, St Julians, Bettws, Malpas, Ringland, Allt-yr-yn, Gaer, Pill, Rogerstone, Bassaleg, Duffryn and the surrounding villages, plus the wider area out to Cwmbran, Caerleon, Langstone, Marshfield and beyond. Our coverage page lists every area in full. If you are just outside the list, call anyway — we usually still can.
Can you take away things I no longer want?
Yes. A move is the natural time to let go of what you no longer need, so we can collect and clear unwanted furniture and household items at the same time. As Preloved Abertillery, usable pieces can be passed on for reuse rather than simply thrown away, which means less waste and less for you to deal with at the other end.
How do I get a quote?
The quickest way is to call us on 07916 638069 and talk it through, or fill in the callback form and we will come back to you. Let us know both addresses, the size of the property, roughly what needs moving and your preferred date. Photos of anything bulky or awkward help us price accurately. You will get a clear, fixed quote with no obligation.
